This is how the idea of organizing a road bike camp for women came about - the origin of the Female Cycling Base, so to speak. And the success was overwhelming: originally, she thought there would be around five to six participants to cover all the costs. In the end, around 30 women took part in the first camp in Bad Waltersdorf in Eastern Styria, Austria.
She hit a nerve with this: The girls networked, friendships were formed and an association for the Female Cycling Base has since been founded - all thanks to the girls' motivation to support women in cycling and to cycle together.
In addition to other road and mountain bike camps, the girls also take part in events such as the Kufstein Cycle Marathon, do group rides together and expand their knowledge at workshops for female mechanics. The now almost 50 members from Vienna and Graz, Upper Austria, Tyrol and Eastern Styria have the right to register and receive discounted rates. There are also open events for anyone who would like to get to know the community. The club describes itself as a very popular sport, with wattage being less of a focus.
And of course there is also a team kit. The different shades of red of the Female Cycling Base jerseys have a real recognition effect and ensure that the girls are highly visible on the road. “I already knew CUORE through other communities. We were not only impressed by the quality of the products, but also by the Team Shop tool - this was a great advantage with members living so far apart.” - Anja Gleichweit, founder of the Female Cycling Base.
Cycling has remained Anja's passion - and we at CUORE are delighted to be able to accompany her and the girls on their journey and on the bike. Would you like to be there too? Then take a look at the Female Cycling Base website and sign up for one of their camps!
